Friday, April 15th, 2011

Today we are wrapping up our series on how to save you money this tax season. So far we’ve talked about the benefits of our too good to be true trade show display rental program, Wednesday we were all about different ways to save you money while on the road, and today we’re going to finish things out with tax deductions that are sure to help you get a larger refund. For those of you sweating it out trying to get that paperwork done for the end of the day today, take a deep breath and relax. Due to a holiday the usual April 15th deadline has been move to Monday the 18th so you’ve still got a few more days to wrap up any loose ends and get them filed. For small business owners this should give you plenty of time to make sure you’ve taken all the deductions available to you.

3 Must Take Tax Deductions For Small Business Owners

Travel Expenses- Many people think that in terms of travel expenses this simply means the literal cost of going somewhere such as a plane tick, cab ride, etc….but in fact pretty much everything associated with the trip can count as a deduction. This could include your hotel stay, food, dry cleaning, shipping that trade show display. Plus those of any employee you take with you.

Advertising Deductions- Did you sponsor a little league team this year? Purchase a new custom designed banner to hang on your store front? Maybe you ordered some new brochures or business cards. Advertising is a great source for tax deductions. Think of all the little things you do to promote your business including advertising at local restaurants, sending out coupons, or radio ads. The only thing you need to make sure you can do is prove you did the promotion.

Entertaining Clients- One major reason you go to trade shows is to meet new people in hopes of generating sales. When meeting a potential client it’s always better to get them away from the crowds where you can speak one on one without a million distractions. This could mean dinner at a fancy restaurant, catering a private lunch, or showing your appreciation by giving them a couple of tickets to that night’s ball game. Make sure to always get a receipt and note who attended and what the circumstances were.

Nobody has a harder time getting through tax season then the small business owner. The folks at Godfrey understand this and that’s why we do our best to make it easier on you by offering such programs as our trade show display rental system and thousands of custom designed exhibits that are sure to help you generate sales.

Don’t Miss A Sale! It’s Time To Make Your Next Trade Show Display Interactive!

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Recently my family and I had the opportunity to visit the McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Al. The three story building which is tucked away among banks, brokerage firms, and other offices downtown, is one of the many hidden gems in the city. For my four year old it was a dream come true. Unlike other museums which encourage silence and strolling from one exhibit to the next, the McWane Center has only one rule and that’s nothing is off limits in terms of what you can touch, pull, push, or throw. The completely interactive museum is everything that you would expect from what is essentially a business trying to get people in the door. Like the McWane Science Center in order to grow and encourage consumers to spend their hard earned money, today’s business must put aside the old ways of simply describing what their product does and instead give them complete access to experience the item firsthand.

It used to be the case not too long ago that in order to convince consumers that a product would change their lives, all a company would need to do is invest in a pedestal, an information booth to hold a few brochures, and a good pitchman. Times have changed though and with them trade shows are no longer filled with well suited guys spreading the charm and instead feature full scale putt putt golf courses, interactive audio video displays, not to mention chances to win big with such guaranteed crowd pleasers such as cash closets or spin to win games. In order to win a potential customer over they need to be able to touch, taste, and test the product so they know that what they are looking at is the latest thing that they can’t live without.  Consumers want a chance to get on Facebook or Twitter to find out what others have to say about your product. They need to Google the latest news and reviews before they dish out the cash.

If you are a small business owner or trade show vendor looking to make a stronger impression while increasing sales, then the time has come to give your customers what they want with a fully customized interactive trade show display from Godfrey featuring the hottest designs on the market today!

Don’t Let Road Construction Get In The Way Of Higher Sales!

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

The good news is that it appears the stimulus package which passed through Congress last year is working. The unemployment rate is dropping, holiday sales were higher than expected, and all across the country new jobs are being created spurred by a sudden uptick in growth.  Unfortunately there’s a down side to everything and in terms of the stimulus it all comes down to the increase in road projects by city and state governments and how they are hurting the small business owner.  We all known the secret to success is location location location, but what do you do when all that hard work picking out the perfect spot goes out the window thanks to a community renewal project? Sure in the long run better roads, sidewalks, and increase traffic will be great for business, but these projects can take years before they are completed  leaving you struggling to attract customers among all the confusion.

Luckily there are a couple things you can do while you attempt to weather the storm, the first on the list being to make sure you’ve got plenty of name recognition. This should start the moment you catch wind that the possibility exists of a construction project occurring in front of your store. Coupons, billboards, contests, each are excellent ways of making sure the local community is aware of what a great business you have. The next thing to do is look into several high quality outdoor signs that are sure to catch the attention of those passing by and can tempt them to cross the construction to get to your location.  A large format outdoor a-frame stand measuring at 8′h x 20′w and double side is the just the thing to get your business noticed about the traffic cones and detour signs. 17 foot banner sails, double-sided sidewalk poster frames, and eye popping flying banners each designed to feature your logo and specifically designed to flap in the wind like a friendly hello welcoming customers your direction.

If you are a small business owner facing some tough times due to construction in front of your store, then don’t wait till it’s too late to check out Godfrey’s line of fantastic looking outdoor displays!
