The cure for high travel costs!

Monday, March 21st, 2011

From minivan moms to multi-billion dollar companies everyone is feeling the pinch at the gas pump. As the cost of everything continues to go through the roof, for those that can afford to make it to trade shows in hopes of collecting new business any profit is almost ate up entirely by the cost of travel back and forth. While the average price per gallon of gas is a stunning $3.53 in the U.S. when compared to how much the rest of the world pays it appears things definitely aren’t as bad as they could be.

In a recent report from CNN on the high cost of fuel all over the world, it was found that the U.S. could have it a lot worse when talking transportation costs.

Average February Gas Prices Per Gallon

* Norway  $9.28

*Italy $7.77

*Japan $6.30

*Canada $4.49

*Greece $8.45

With a decline in transportation costs not showing any signs of slacking off any time soon, we all need to find more creative ways to getting ourselves and our materials from point A to point B. For small business owners who regularly attend trade shows, this means looking for displays that are made of lighter weight materials and are cheaper to transport.

Tension Fabric Walls- If you think saving money means cutting back on the scale of the display, then think again. Tension Fabric Walls feature the same amazing custom graphics that so many have come to expect from Godfrey, without sacrificing scale. Made from ultra-lightweight materials and easily broken down in a matter of seconds, this display proves that saving money doesn’t mean accepting an inferior design.

Table Top Displays- Wouldn’t it be nice if you could find a way to give a professional presentation and once it’s all over with, just fold the entire display up as if it were that laptop you depend so much on? Well that is exactly what a table top display does! Available in a wide variety of designs with plenty of custom features to choose from, a table top display will literally make those travel costs associated with larger display vanish.

With transportation costs skyrocketing all around the globe, in order to maintain a profit the trade show vendor needs to find a way to put out a quality display that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to get from place to place. Thankfully Godfrey has a wide variety of display that are easy on the eyes and light on the budget!

Time To Call The Trade Show Professionals

Monday, March 7th, 2011

That cold snap that came through the last couple of nights really did a number on your pipes. You got up to take a shower this morning an you immediately noticed the change in water pressure. As that sick feeling began to take over, you slowly made the march towards the basement already aware of what you would find waiting for you at the bottom of those dark stairs….moments later phone in hand you do what must be done and that’s call a plumber for help with the 5 inches of water that is quickly rising.

All that running a around trying to get the plumbing fixed left you  exposed to the elements which in turn made you a prime target for the flu. Within days you’re running a fever of a 105, can’t hold anything down, and can’t afford to use any more sick days. As much as you hate it, the only choice is to call the family doctor and get back on the path to good health.

Meanwhile the water that was filling the basement went from 5 inches to 10 by the time the plumber finally made it. The result left a crack in your foundation which won’t easily be fixed. A call to your home insurance agent gets a time setup to meet and a promise that it’s not as bad as you think. As he hangs up the phone the agent promises you that things will be back to normal in no time and the claim should go smoothly.

Just like in the scenarios above, at some point a problem gets so out of hand that we all must seek help from the professionals. For small business owners trying desperately to see the light at the end of that long economic tunnel, The Godfrey Group is here to help when you need us the most. From our expert design team who go out to their way to ensure your satisfaction to our display rental program which makes it easier than ever to try new ideas to our extensive library of designs with tons of concepts to choose from, we understand how tough the market is these days and we’re here to help. Whether it be an outdoor tent covered in your own personal logo, an information display with tons of room for pamphlets and brochures, or an easy to transport simple to install popup display; regardless of what your needs are if you are having trouble creating sales than it’s time to call the professionals and let Godfrey save the day!

We’ve Got The Displays That Will Get You Noticed!!!

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Here we are finally making it to Friday, all set to make every second of the coming weekend count and yet once again most of the country is faced with literally feet of snow ruining everything in its path. The past two months have been nothing but one winter storm after the other, a trend that doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down despite what that pesky Puxatony Phil says. According to a recent weather report from CNN just this week “Parts of Oklahoma had received up to 12 inches of snow, according to the state Department of Emergency Management. Wind chills were 10 to 30 degrees below zero in some areas, and authorities were urging people to stay off the roads. Some 80 people in Oklahoma had been injured as a result of the storm, the state Department of Health said Wednesday. That total included 63 falls, one carbon monoxide poisoning, 14 injuries in traffic accidents and two “cut/pierce injuries.”

Like it or not more than ever, this year winter is an unmovable force that must be dealt with. A force that demands to be reckoned with. That cannot be overlooked or dismissed with the wave of a hand. If you think about it this is exactly what you want from a trade show display; something that creates buzz around a conference center, makes people stand up and take notice of who you are, that hooks into them and refuses to let go until they check out exactly what you have to offer. A display that WOW’s the crowd and opens their wallets.

We’ve all been to those events where after one walk around the room, you’re left feeling like you’ve seen everything a thousand times before and really wouldn’t have missed anything had you decided to stay home. Godfrey isn’t in the business of creating these types of boring displays. Give us the chance and what you will soon discover is that we have the tools to create for you a custom built trade show exhibit that is guaranteed to stop consumers in their tracks and stand in line to find out what amazing things are being offered.

If you are in the market for a custom built trade show display take a cue from Old Man Winter and let Godfrey design for you a display that will leave the crowd breathless!

Controlling Trade Show Chaos!!

Monday, February 7th, 2011

In a lot of ways putting on a great trade show appearance is like producing a play. It may sound like a stretch but just think of the last trade show you attended and all the different things large and small that needed to be handled before the doors were opened signaling the beginning of the big event. Although the trade show will only last a few days the list of things that need to be done months in advance include:

*Locking in the date you will be attending

*Planning what you will be showing to the public.

*Making travel plans such as what flights to take and what hotels will offer the best rate

*Inventory needs to be stocked

*Potential customers in the area need to called on so they know where they can find you and what you will be offering.

*Employees to need be made aware of what will be expected

All of this and a ton of other decisions must be made before you even get to the conference center. Once there the production really kicks into high gear as all that planning pays off and a thousand more issues raise their ugly head. The event is going to last longer than originally thought, do you have enough product? The event planner stuck you in a spot where no one will be able to find you, is there a possibility to be moved? Where is the best place to put your additional signage such as posters or information displays? During those first hours of every trade show chaos rules and that’s why Godfrey prides itself on making sure that with all that is going on around you the last thing you have to worry about is your custom built display.

Regardless of if we are talking about an outdoor tent, an indoor grand format fabric structure, a custom built workstation, or an simple sampling kiosk, with the help of our designers and personal project managers the last thing you are going to have to worry about is how well your custom built trade show exhibit will stand up to the competition and how difficult it will be to install. So remember the next time you begin planning your schedule, get with Godfrey and enjoy the feeling of having one less thing to worry about.

Pop-up Displays! The Cure For A Bad Case Of Jet Lag!

Monday, January 24th, 2011

While the concept of jet lag may seem like a fairy tale created by those trying to let what happened in Vegas stay in Vegas, in truth it is a very real and all too frustrating occurrence.  According to most doctors the effects of jet lag can take days to run their course and can cause some serious health issues. Study Shows New Growth In Trade Show Attendance!

Monday, January 3rd, 2011

Looking back to what was 2010 there were a ton of stories that caught the nations attentions; the Chilean miners trapped underground for 69 days, the Gulf of Mexico Oil spill that will be sending shockwaves through the entire country from years to come, and maybe the biggest story of them all the continued struggle to revive the slumping economy.  Several months back we mentioned that at least from the point of view of one economist things were finally getting back on the right track. According to Gunther Bright, VP of the Global Client Group “We’re seeing a significant shift to a more positive outlook among finance executives as companies have moved from simply surviving the present to investing in growth for the future. At the same time, the experience of the recession set the stage for a newfound and long-term focus on financial discipline and management rigor”. Now comes word from the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) that for the first time in a while trade show growth is on the rise!

In a release from the research agency, the CEIR is stating that according to their findings the third quarter was witness to the first upswing in trade show growth in nine quarters. “After a record setting nine consecutive quarters of negative quarter over quarter performance, the third quarter of the 2010 CEIR Index reports all four metrics show improvement over the third quarter of 2009. This is most welcome news and tends to confirm some of the anecdotal reports we have reviewed. It should be noted that the third quarter is historically the weakest of the four quarters and has had the greatest decline. The test will be to see if this positive trend continues into the fourth quarter of 2010 and then the all important first quarter of 2011.”

This means that for those companies holding back from attending a larger number of trade shows than they typically would, now is the time to look into jumping back into the waters and riding the wave of growth to higher sales. Thankfully Godfrey is here to help you make a splash with tons of original and custom designed trade show exhibits especially designed to grab the attention of all those consumers looking to be amazed! Don’t wait until it’s too late and risk losing money that could be made as more and more visitors pile into trade show centers all across the country. Contact Godfrey today!

Looking for a dependable trade show display? We’ve got it covered!

Monday, December 13th, 2010

There are few things in this life that you can depend on. The smell of mom’s pot roast as you walk in from church on Sunday morning. The quick jab from your little brother you haven’t seen in a while. A snowman being built within hours of that first snow fall. When talking business these things we rely on become even rarer; a yearly raise, paid holidays a few times year, a free turkey at Thanksgiving. It’s nice to know that no matter what happens there will always be a cup of coffee waiting for you at the office in the morning.

Godfrey understands the need for those creature comforts we depend on so much, especially during those times when you are on the road attending a trade show. This  why we go out of our way to make every display we sell as simple, easy, and of course dependable as possible so that no matter what happens on your way there, you will always know that the last thing you need to worry about is how your exhibit will look.

Whether we are talking about our out of this world Space Station pop-ups which literally come to life in seconds, table top displays that have the ability to turn a simple folding table into an award deserving exhibit, or outdoor tents and kiosks which are sure to turn the heads of all those scores of visitors that will be walking past; Godfrey has exactly what you are looking for.

By the time you deal with all the packing, unpacking, traveling, locating and checking into the hotel, the last thing you want to deal with is a complex display that requires a PHD to assemble. With Godfrey you can set your worries aside and know that just as the sky is blue you will have the best custom designed display up and ready to go in seconds.

2011 Trade Show Trends!!

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

It may seem kinda silly to be talking about 2011 what with Thanksgiving being tomorrow and all, but the fact is the time to get ready for next year’s trade show is today. A great looking trade show display doesn’t happen overnight, but instead takes time in order to ensure that you are getting exactly what you need to set yourself apart from your competitor. At Godfrey from the very moment you contact a personal project manager a constant dialog is established which allows you to voice your opinion on color, design, style, accessories, and keeps you up to date every step of the way as the display or exhibit is created. The most important decision though is as old as time itself, “What do people want?” In hopes of shedding some light on this continuous dilemma, today we are going to take out the old crystal ball and tell you what we think will be the hottest trade show trends for 2011

*Value over price- It used to be that price was king, but these days with the economy picking up steam consumers are just as interested in the value they will receive by purchasing a product as they are by what they will have to pay for it. Grand fabric exhibits and custom built pop-ups will definitely help you get your point across, but the key for today’s consumer is letting them touch, feel, and taste your product first hand in order to convince them that you are offering a quality product.

*Social Media and the pressures of friendship- Forget phone calls and mail-outs, the trick to getting your target market’s attention is reaching them where they live and that’s on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. These are the places where we find out what our best friends and favorite celebrities are tripping over themselves to get to; where our favorite restaurants are offering special promotions for following along on their sites. At your next event make sure to add a couple of spaces to that ledger you have set up at your information booth to include ways to reach them via social networking sites and email

*Meeting expectations- With so many products flooding the market, in order to separate yourself from the competition one of the most important things that have to be done is you have to meet the expectations of your customers. Not only does every bell and whistle need to be laid out and easy to use, but they must be of high quality. This is where an audio/video display proves invaluable in that you have the ability to showcase every aspect of your product in a eye capturing format.

The Trade Show Packet: An Idea That Just Might Change The Way You Do Business

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

With the state of the market these days if you are company that makes their living off of the leads gathered from trade shows, then you need to be sure that you treat each event as a learning experience. Regardless of whether or not you’ve been to only a couple of shows or two hundred, everyone has something to learn and every vendor has something to teach. To this end today we are going to discuss the importance of a trade show packet and some of the things you can do at your next event that might help you down the road.

Simply put a trade show packet is a series of observations that require you to pay attention to not only how you did, but how other vendors faired. Before you can get started though make sure that you’ve got away to keep the notes so that you can review them from time to time; the last thing you want is to be stuck jotting a bunch of random thoughts down on a bunch of scrap paper.

What worked for you?  To say that a trade show can be hectic at times is definitely an understatement. We all know what it’s like when you are slammed and how things can turn around at the drop of a hat. Once you have a moment to catch your breath though, look around your booth and see what all the fuss was about. Did you sell out of anything? Was there a specific style you ran out of first or that people were asking about? Was your display set up to handle traffic accordingly or could you have setup a different way. Did you get any compliments on your exhibit?

What didn’t work for you? Every presentation has its flaws. Even the most customized of displays can miss if the way you present it is wrong. Delivery is just as important as any popup display, portable signage, or custom logo you surround yourself with. If you come across as rude, arrogant, or uncaring all that attention that your exhibit brought will quickly go the other way. In the same respect if you’re not clear and to the point as to what it is you are offering, those that visit your booth may not stick around to find out. A custom display will bring the crowd to you, but it’s your job to keep them there.

What did other vendors do? You shouldn’t have to look too far to see what other vendors at the show are doing. Take a walk and make a few mental notes as to what others are doing. Is anyone using games such as a money booth, Frisbee toss, or Plinko that are attracting a lot of attention? Maybe someone is getting a good response from a photo prop. Whatever the other guys are doing compare that to your own display and see who you think comes out on top. Maybe there are things that other vendors did well that may fit in nicely with your style or maybe you will see some things you are doing also which could be turning customers away.

A trade show packet is kind of like an exit interview you conduct with yourself. Take some time to really think about what happened during your trip, what your impressions were of the event as a whole, and what you might do differently your next time out.
