It appears that
Election Day 2010 is fully upon us as millions of voters will go to the polls tomorrow and choose the leaders that will guide this country for into the coming years. With over 100 House seats and 37 governors up for election, 2010 has been witness to one of the most costly and hard fought political seasons in decades. According to a CNN/Opinion Research survey “
A new national poll released Monday showed the number of Americans who say things are going badly in the country, at 75 percent, is higher than it has been on the eve of any mid-term election since the question was first asked in the mid-1970s.” Needless to say some very tough choices will made on Tuesday, thankfully when it comes to deciding the best company to help you promote your company Godfrey is the clear winner.

Not to toot our own horn, but Godfrey has been in the custom display business for a long time and we know what we are good at. Sure we can supply you with a literature display that looks like a modern work of art. Yes nobody can beat our pop-up displays and kiosk designs. I dare you to find a rental program better than the one we offer featuring a level of quality better than anyone else. Yet there is one thing that Godfrey does better than all else and that’s our ability to create a custom exhibit just as technical as anything else on the market that is completely portable and looks like it all came in one piece.
A couple of pedestals, a few posters, some counter space, and two or three fabric walls may not seem like much on their own, but put together and what you get is a first class exhibit that is very easy to transport from one location to the next. As we our saying goes “A portable display shouldn’t look portable.” This phrase is more than just a campaign slogan or marketing tag line, it goes straight to the heart of how Godfrey designs every single display it sends out the door. From the moment you click over to Godfrey’s amazing design gallery to that first conversation with your personal project manager, Godfrey begins to narrow down the list of options to the point where the end result is a custom built trade show exhibit that is sure to meet your every expectation. Plus you are constantly kept up to date with what is going on with your display through email, video, and pictures. By putting together all the pieces of the puzzle such as our amazing Truss, Pod Forum, and TechForm systems the end result is a custom built display that looks like it is one complete structure.
If you are a trade show vendor and are looking for a first class custom built display that looks like it was built there on the spot, look no further than Godfrey! Contact us today at 1-800-789-9394!

As a vendor it’s your job to attract the customer’s attention any way you can. It’s not uncommon to see everything from scantily clad models to circus clowns making their way through an event in support of a company. And let’s face it most trade shows do have that circus atmosphere what with all the loud music, flashing lights, and costumed characters running around. While this type of guerilla marketing does attract attention, it tends to take the customer’s eye away from what the main focus should be and that’s what the vendor’s message is. The result of being the life of the party is that once the show is over, very few in attendance will remember less about who put on the event and more about the guys juggling the flaming chainsaws. Not that prop games such football toss or Plinko don’t have their place at a trade show. After all, the most important thing is getting that foot in the door. With that said though vendors need to remember that through all the glitz and glitter if the customer doesn’t walk away with the sponsor’s name on their tongue, all that shock and awe missed its target.
Believe it or not there are other qualities that customers appreciate in the company’s they do business with rather than providing them with a good time. Among those traits honesty is considered one of the highest. For some adverting and honesty may be on completely separate ends of the spectrum, but if you’re a consumer looking to spend a large sum of money in a time when our nation’s economy is leaving everyone counting pennies; being honest is a breath of fresh air. An example of this can be seen this week in a recent full page ad featuring the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves who continuously seem to be disappointing fans with one losing season after another. In the letter the team president tells fans “We now have more shooting, athleticism and depth at every position, which will make us a better team this season. So will we challenge for the NBA championship this year? Not likely. Ouch. This honesty thing is a bit painful. But the reality is, we still need that one dominant player…..We are confident, however, that this team will be exciting to watch. For the first time in years Wolves fans are going to feel like they’re missing out if they aren’t in the arena. So in addition to player development we’re working hard on fan development, starting with variable pricing and Flex Pack ticket packages that let you pick the games and seats that you want. The bottom line for fans is: We’re making it easier than ever for you to be part of our turnaround.”
Instead of fireworks and magicians, consider an approach similar to the Timberwolves: Custom built fabric walls, soft lighting behind a backdrop of hand selected images, a hanging banner overhead, a conference table to the side, a few chairs for visitors, and a video monitor providing constant information on how your product will change the lives of all who try it. All of this covered in eye catching colors and featuring your company’s name and logo emblazoned in multiple places. No tricks. Nothing to disguise who you are. Just an honest approach at presenting yourself to the customer.

We all know that trade show vendors will go to extraordinary lengths to attract attention to their booths. Far beyond custom displays and game props many vendors feel that the best way to attract attention is by putting a pretty face in front of their booths. While an attractive person will definitely get you attention, it may not be the kind you want. In fact scantily clad models bring about three very distinct problems that are hard to get around if you are vendor looking to utilize this type of marketing:
•1. They draw the wrong crowd. The main problem with using a model as the main way to sell your product is that it gets everyone’s attention. Every company has a target market in mind for their product. A segment of the population that they feel is the perfect fit for their product. By placing a model in front of your display, instead of zeroing in on that target market you may find yourself wasting huge amounts of time on people who are just there to see a pretty face and don’t have any interest in what you have to offer.
•2. They ruin your clean image. First impressions mean everything and they are often virtually impossible to reverse because you almost never get a second shot at talking to the customer. If a visitor walks by your booth and sees a model that could be considered inappropriately dressed, that customer could immediately classify you as a company that is less than family friendly. When designing a display for a trade show you want to be as professional as possible at all times. You want custom fabrics, clean lines, and quality video presentations. By putting a less than wholesome face in front of the exhibit you are alienating a large portion of the population.
•3. They distort your message. Once you consider all of the expenses that are involved in getting to, setting up, and promoting yourself at a trade show, the last thing you can afford to do is have people walk away from your booth not knowing what you are all about. Again using a model may get bring the crowd your way, but moments later if asked visitors to your booth might be able to remember what the model looked like, but not what she was there to sell. Models get in the way of what you are there to do and that is burn your company’s name in the minds of hundreds of consumers.
Instead of using a model to promote a product, the best move is to invest in a custom built multicolored trade show display that only Godfrey can provide. With a wide variety of kiosks, hanging headers, and pop-up displays to choose from; Godfrey is the answer to all your trade show woes.

This week we are talking about how smaller displays don’t always mean smaller sales or less impact. Today I want to take this thought and give you an example of how this can translate into a trade show environment. By now you know that Godfrey has everything you need from giant fabric structures to stand alone literature displays to outdoor inflatables, but what about a simple display that requires little in terms of involvement by an onsite salesman. I’m talking about a portable workstation with monitor mount and lockable storage compartment.
Imagine walking through a crowded trade show; everywhere you turn you see sales people blasting out their sales pitches to anyone in ear shot. Flashes of light and color coming from all directions accompany the teeth shattering pulse of the music as it blasts overhead. If you didn’t know better you might think that you were actually visiting one of the cities trendiest night clubs. Then suddenly off the side something catches your eye. It could be the overhead banner that promises a one of a kind experience for anyone that is interested in trying something new. It could the lone salesman as he stands smiling greeting those that walk by in a polite yet unobtrusive manner. Then again what might actually be catching your attention is the monitor station behind him with its sleek curved design, custom graphics promising something new is waiting to be experienced, and a flash of something on the screen that begs further investigation. As you approach the salesman invites you to learn more about his product and simply presses a button that starts a slide show designed to let you know just how much the product being discussed could change your life.
Sometimes you don’t need the flash and glitz that those over the top displays provide to get your point across. While larger structures definitely attract attention and are always popular, something as simple as a portable workstation with a monitor and an eye catching slide show may just be enough to attract the customers you are looking for. Plus they are easier on your wallet as well. The next time you get ready to go all out for that next event, take a moment and reconsider using a smaller display with a quality message. You might be surprised at your results.

We’ve all been there, you’re at the store and the one thing you need is the only thing that is not marked with a price tag. You immediately start scanning the tops of the aisles for signs that a price scanner is nearby so you can see how much the item costs. Maybe it’s not a price you are looking for, maybe you are in a hurry or are looking for something specific like baby friendly mosquito spray. Your first inclination of course is to look up in hopes of finding a sign pointing you the in the right direction. It’s natural. You get frustrated, begin to feel lost, need help….you instinctively look towards the sky in hopes of being pointed in the right direction. Maybe it’s religious. Looking up inspires hope, good thoughts, no limitations. Looking down means looking backward, being limited by your circumstances, without choices….
When you’re at a trade show looking up is just about the only way to find what you are looking for and that’s why hanging banners are so important. A customized hanging banner with your company’s name and logo has the ability to act like that ray of sunshine parting the dark clouds and lighting a path for consumers to follow straight to your exhibit. If you don’t believe me just check out our round, tapered, or pinwheel headers for yourself.
If your frustrated about the lack of traffic coming in the direction of your booth or kiosk then instead of looking up, look to Godfrey where we have just the thing to part those cloudy skies. With thousands of designs to choose from, the sky is the limit as to what can be specifically tailored to fit the needs of your organization. So what are you waiting for? Pop over to our main site today and learn more about our fantastic signs, eco-friendly forums, and of course overhead banners.

Getting ready for a trade show involves a lot of guess work. How many people will be attending? Will they be in the mood to spend or will you just get a bunch of window shoppers? Is going big the right direction or would something more personal have a more profound impact? Like I said guess work. All the prep in the world will only get you so far and the fact is that once it’s all said and done, how effective you were all boils down to how well you were able to influence the customer. Something as simple as the temperature of the building, the layout of the event, or the condition of the facilities could make or break your whole trip. Maybe instead of guessing what your customers want, you should be asking them straight out.
Feedback straight from the customer is one of the best ways to judge how effective your displays are. All the custom graphics, overhead banners, video stations in the world mean nothing if instead of attracting the customer they distract them or worse send them running in the other direction. Feedback is easy to get cause all you gotta do is ask. Forget surveys or questionnaires, just strike up a conversation with those that visit your booth and ask them what they think. Like they taught us in school it’s about the What, When, Why, and How of it all. “What do you think of our presentation?” “How do you think we could be more effective?” “Why would somebody not want to know more about what we are offering?” “When do you think you might want to talk more about our product?” Try to be as casual as possible so as not to give people the feeling of being interrogated, but at the same time don’t be afraid to ask people for ways you could have done a better job at getting your message across.
After all the glitz and glamour of the trade show is over with, what matters the most is how effective you were in getting your message across to the customer. By talking to visitors throughout the day and getting their opinions on your presentation not only are you creating a relationship with that person, but you also gain some insight how you can be better prepared for your next event.

We’ve all heard the sayings ”The pain you feel today will be the strength you feel tomorrow”, “The beauty of flying like an eagle is the ability to soar without looking back.”, or my personal favorite featuring the cutest of kittens dangling from a tree “Hang in there!” These days it seems that everyone is trying to motivate you to do something. Just one look at the world’s most popular media site Facebook and you’ll quickly learn that people all over are using these types of motivational phrases to not only boost their own moods, but to also give others a bit of inspiration in hopes of making it through a tough time in their lives. Nowhere are these words of wisdom more needed then in the work place where just like the economy, hopes of a better future are at an all time low.
The question is though, do motivational posters placed around the office work? Well according to Ken Brown a professor at the University of Iowa they do. “If they’re part of a broader campaign, with clearly outlined goals and a commitment from management, they may have some impact ” says Brown. Brown then goes on to say, “It’s hard to alter peoples’ behavior, so getting workers to increase their value to a company is not easy. If the change effort is part of a multipronged strategy with committed management working to create change, and they create a sense of urgency that change is needed and clearly explain the reasons, then posters and coffee mugs can be a small part of it.” The Godfrey Group understands this idea and that’s why all of our products are geared toward helping you spark a sense of desire in the hearts and mind of your target market.
Whether you are in fact looking for poster frames perfect for those motivational phrases to hang around the office or you need an eye-catching display practically guaranteed to draw people to you, Godfrey has just what you need to get the job done. If you get down to it from our Pop-up displays to our Portable Kiosks, to our Computer Stations; everything Godfrey does is essentially created to motivate. If you are looking to inspire your customers or improve the attitude of your own employees, contact Godfrey today and get on the path to a brighter tomorrow.

Last week in a post titled “The Right Person For The Job” I talked about how something as tantalizing as Fillet Mignon would appear to be plain trash if it were to be served to you on a garbage can lid. Now in that post I was using this example as way to make sure you are employing people who have a certain degree of charm and personality, but the same can be said about how you choose to show off your product as well. You could essentially have one of those products that becomes synonymous with a entire line of products from any number of manufacturers (Coke, TiVo, and Matchbox Cars are examples of this), but because you did not choose the best way to promote your idea nobody ever takes notice. It’s those early decisions about how you will choose to bring your product to the consumer that make all the difference in the world.
Understandably this isn’t an easy process and not something to jump into. You want to start with a very broad idea of what you want and then begin to eliminate choices. Is your event outside? Do you need something like a large tent or would a smaller Mushroom style kiosk do the trick? Are you looking for something that can easily be packed up and taken to the next location or does portability not matter? Maybe you are just looking to spice up your office front. Will there be some type of attendant with a desk stationed there? Is privacy going to be a concern? How about signage? Were you thinking about something that may possibly hang from the ceiling or maybe you’d rather just have a stand that would allow people to pick up literature as they pass by?
All of these questions and we haven’t even considered graphics yet. Are you looking for something with bright colors or is something more professional what you had in mind? Do you have a specific logo that needs to be included or are you looking to come up with a new theme unlike anything you have done before? Are considering renting a booth to start out or are you ready to fully customize a display of your own?
Finding what is right for you and your products can be time consuming process, but one that is fulfilling and often very profitable. Knowing what works best for you and what you want makes all the difference in the world. The Godfrey Group understands this and that’s why we’ve created a Design Library that lets you start narrowing your ideas down and even save them so that you can come back later after you’ve researched what you want a little further. Don’t hesitate. Login in today!!

Writing for this site as I do three times a week, I get the unique opportunity to talk about all of the amazing products that Godfrey has to offer. Over the past several weeks alone I’ve shared tips on how to stay in touch with those you meet at trade shows, how to create a classy professional office front, and ways to save time and money by planning correctly for your next event. Today though, I want to share something that happened to me as I was driving down the road earlier this week. With so many company’s trying to get two seconds of our attention with billboards, flashing signs, and mascots waving their arms on the side of the road, it’s no wonder we have all become desensitized to any type of promotion. So as I mentioned I’m driving down the road, the same road I drive down at least four days a week; restaurants, retail stores, car lots of every shape, size, and color zipping past me, when I literally almost slammed on the brakes. You see it’s one thing to share with others everything that Godfrey has to offer, but another story completely to see one their products in action. Sure enough though out in front of my local sandwich shop sat a Flying Banner flapping in the wind as if waving to passing motorists.
If you have not had a chance to check one of these new signs out than do yourself a favor and click on the link above. What you will find is one of the best looking designs to hit the advertising world in years. Shaped like a large wing, the Flying Banner acts similar to a flag except it’s connected to a base that pivots and can be used indoors as well as outdoors. This great looking banner easily pops to life and takes no time to set up. It’s no wonder that these types of banners are popping up everywhere since they are essentially custom designed flags that can easily be placed in front of a store or next to a busy street and draw all sorts of attention. With accesories that include double sided graphics, a rotating base option, and even a guaranteed to catch their eye car mount; reaching your target market has never been easier.
Shaped like nothing no other banner on the market today, the Fly Banner is a one of kind attention getter that practically does all the sales work for you. If you are ready to step into the future of custom designed signage than wait no longer and contact Godfrey today!!
