This week the White House commission in charge of handling the current deficit situation released their initial proposal which includes drastic cuts in all areas of government spending. According to a report from CNN” Their package touched every aspect of government, combining deep spending cuts with tax increases to eventually bring both expenditures and revenue to 21 percent of gross domestic product.” In a lot of ways a trade show is microcosm for what is happening with our current economy. Large trade shows are like cities in that you have a main strip containing food and novelty vendors, a mix of popular companies that rank high in terms of name recognition, and then you have all these smaller lesser known start-ups with hopes of getting a boost from the attention that bigger events bring. All are there for one reason and that’s to grow their business. Like all the industries and corporations that make up this country’s economy though, expenses start to get in the way of this growth. Travel costs for both employees and materials, food costs, expenses associated with securing a spot at the event, hotel costs, wages….all of these subtract from any revenue that is gained as a result of attending.
With tons of expenses eating at the bottom line, in order to make sure your next trade show event is profitable you might want to consider renting one of Godfrey’s custom trade show exhibits. Don’t let the name fool you, the Godfrey Display Rental Program allows your company to receive a top of the line exhibit with options that include custom graphics, a wide variety of configurations, easy portability, and includes variations of our best selling TechForm, Trussbeam, and PodForum systems. All at an affordable price guaranteed not to take a chunk out your trade show budget.
Perfect for those looking for an amazing displayexhibit but want to test the waters first or for anyone who finds themselves double booked and in need of a temporary fix to get them through the busy season, the Godfrey Display Rental Program is one way to cut your trade show spending in half without taking anything away from the quality of your presentation. If you haven’t been looking out your window lately, I don’t blame you. All those beautiful yellows, browns, reds, and golds that signaled the change from one season to another are just about gone. Fall has fallen and what is left is nothing but gray skies and white snow. It’s enough to make the most cheerful among us feeling a little blue. Luckily there is a way to turn those frowns upside down and all it takes is a little change in atmosphere. According to David Johnson author of Color Psychology, colors play a significant role in how we feel about something. Below are some facts you might find surprising about several of the basic colors:
Black- Signifies color, strength power
White- Gives off a sense of purity and innocence.
Red- Creates feelings of fun, intensity, heat, desire. Red is fast and gets people noticed
Purple- Feelings of wealth, luxury, and romance are all associated with this color
Brown- Nature is most often associated with this color which signifies earth, home, warmth.
For trade show vendors and retailers alike color psychology could be the key to higher sales. What colors do you see when picturing a trade show? The convention centers are always tan. Tan paint, tan carpet, tan furniture…all geared toward making you feel warm and at home during your stay. As a vendor though what you want is something that screams “Look at me! You are missing the time of your life by passing me by!” The same holds true for retailers who must find a way to lure consumers out of their warm cars, through the dark and dreary streets, and into their store. By adding brightly colored banners to your store front or trade show exhibit, you are helping to create as sense of joy, happiness, and an urgency to cash in on the latest deal before it’s too late.
When it comes to which color to fit the mood you want your customers in, thanks to Godfrey the sky is the limit. With over fifty different colors to choose from we are not only masters of the custom built trade show exhibit; we keep in you in the loop by sending updates and pictures every step of the way. If all you want to see at your next trade show event is the color green, get with Godfrey where we are always in the mood to help make you a success!

November 7th is little over a week away and that means it’s time to set those clocks back an hour as the end of Daylight Saving Time officially comes to a close. While an extra hour of sleep may sound like a dream come true to most, for those that barely have enough time to get everything done before the sun goes down as it is things are about to get that much harder. The idea behind the time change is that more daylight means less energy is required to light and heat houses. Since the sun rises later in November, December, January, and February the clocks must be adjusted back to account for the extra amounts of darkness in the morning. While the majority of the U.S. tries their best to get all their errands done and home before it gets too dark, Godfrey has found a way to keep time on your side by creating a pop-up display that is sure to save you precious hours.
The SpaceStation Portable Pop-up Exhibit System is more than just a easy to assemble display, it’s an exhibit that has the ability to appear as if it took hours to assemble. Beginning with a foundation constructed of lightweight, heavy duty materials that spring to life in minutes and ending with 200 watt light fixtures, the SpaceStation Pop-up is especially designed to help you spend your time where it’s needed the most…promoting your product.
Available in two models Straightwall and Curvewall, these amazing pop-up displays have the ability to constantly change the way they look thanks to face panels that allow for instant reconfiguration. Each panel is covered from edge to edge in specially designed fabric and feature no bulky magnets so that they create a seamless image when placed side by side. Plus with over 75 different colors to choose from there’s no limit to the custom designs that can be imprinted. A lifetime warranty and the included compact molded case only help to make the SpaceStation Pop-up even more a time saver.
If you’re a vendor who likes to take advantage of every moment, then this is one pop-up exhibit that is sure to help you save time and get to that next sale!

Last week we gave you a post about how Apple had turned itself into a giant buzz machine constantly generating tons of attention through the use of special events each featuring an air of mystery behind them as millions of consumers around the world debated on just what the electronics giant may offer next. Today we want to touch on Apple again by talking about how one band has taken the Apple iPhone and made a name for themselves by giving the public something they have never seen before….a concert using nothing but iPhone apps as instruments.
The band’s name is Atomic Tom and according to rumors on the web is appears the group got the idea of using their iPhones as instruments after their own were stolen several weeks back. In hopes of showing off their skills to the world, Atomic Tom hopped on a New York City subway car and produced a video of their song “Take Me Out” which has now garnered them over 1 million hits since it hit the web. Essentially what Atomic Tom has done is taken something that each of us have in our possession at least some point of everyday the cellphone and found a way to make it new again by giving it a renew purpose.
The concept of changing the way people see everyday objects isn’t something new to Godfrey, since we’ve practically been doing that with trade show displays from the very start. Featuring state of the art custom graphics, ultra-light easy to transport materials and some of the most amazing designs to hit the marketplace in years, Godfrey is second to none in terms of what they can do for your next trade show exhibit. The great thing about Godfrey’s extensive variety of trade show displays and exhibits, is that no matter what you are in the market for we’ve got it covered. Whether it is a display that is quick and easy to assemble, an environmentally friendly exhibit, or something private such as a portable conference room, one look around our website and you’ll instantly see there’s no limit to the possibilities of what your next trade show exhibit could look like. But what if you already have a display that for the most part you are satisfied with? What if you purchased an exhibit before you heard about Godfrey and you haven’t gotten your money’s worth out of it yet? The color is still good, there’s no sign of any major wear or tare…basically it’s still a good display yet there are clearly a few extras missing that might help with the overall design. Thankfully Godfrey has the answers guaranteed to solve all the problems with your current display.
Counter Space and Storage Problems- Many are surprised at just what an extra pedestal or two will add to the overall layout of the exhibit. Not only do pedestals provide more counter space, but at a trade show where space is in high demand they can also be used to store extra inventory such as brochures or packaging. Plus they are perfect for helping to direct the flow of traffic into and around the exhibit.
Customized Headers and Banners- While we can’t do much about the lack of customization on an existing display, Godfrey does offer several styles of banners, signs, and hanging headers that can easily feature your company’s name and logo.
Additional Shelving- Information displays not only provide extra room to display brochures and other informational materials, they can also incorporate video and audio accessories which are sure to give your sales a boost.
Custom Flooring- A trade show exhibit should tie everything together. From the color of the walls to the use of graphics to what the company is trying to promote, all of these things should be reflected in the design of the exhibit. Flooring is just as important. Whether it be a red carpet, connecting, or even diamond plated tiles; a good looking floor cover is often the final piece of the puzzle in building a great looking exhibit.

You may have missed it, but last week marked the official kickoff of the fall season. Although parts of California are still seeing record high temps, sooner or later those cooler days and nights will be driving us all inside. If you’re a business that depends on outdoor advertising to help spread word of mouth, the winter is definitely not your friend. During the summer it seems that every retail store and restaurant in the city has some mascot or college kid walking the streets passing menus as they try to win people over. There’s a reason why the Outdoor Advertising Association Of America claims that in 2009 alone advertisers spent close to $6 billion on outdoor advertising and the reason is that it works. A good outdoor advertising campaign always catches the eye, is unlimited in the number of people it reaches, and continuously delivers its message 24 hours a day 7 days a week at little cost.
If you’re a company that depends on their employees to walk the streets in order to generate sales, the winter months can often become very trying as the weather conditions simply make it impossible to stand outside holding a banner. Thankfully Godfrey has several outdoor banner stands uniquely designed to capture a person’s attention and get them into your store.
Large Format A-Frame- Available in either single or double sided this A-Frame is 8′h x 20′w, is filled with water to keep it anchored to the ground, and features full color dye fabric graphics
Banner Sail II- For indoor and outdoor use the best thing about this stand is its amazing 17 foot high frame that allows it to tower over the competition.
Economy A-Frame- The smaller version of the Large Format A-Frame, the economy size can fit a single or double sided banner and is 36″h x 96″w
Sidewalk Frame- A perfect size for sidewalks that get a lot of foot traffic, this frame comes with available graphic inserts or vinyl options
Flying Banners- As if waving you into the store itself, the Flying Banner begs for attention as it flaps in the slightest of breezes. With the ability to pivot and swing from side to side, this is one of the best types of outdoor signage on the market today.
PopOut TriTower- When it comes to outdoor advertising, three sides are definitely better than two and this especially holds true when talking about the TriTower. Weighting in at a minor 13lbs and able to be folded up for transport in seconds, this is the perfect sign for those companies that like to change things up on a regular basis.

Not to toot our own horn, but Godfrey has been in the custom display business for a long time and we know what we are good at. Sure we can supply you with a literature display that looks like a modern work of art. Yes nobody can beat our pop-up displays and kiosk designs. I dare you to find a rental program better than the one we offer featuring a level of quality better than anyone else. Yet there is one thing that Godfrey does better than all else and that’s our ability to create a custom exhibit just as technical as anything else on the market that is completely portable and looks like it all came in one piece.
A couple of pedestals, a few posters, some counter space, and two or three fabric walls may not seem like much on their own, but put together and what you get is a first class exhibit that is very easy to transport from one location to the next. As we our saying goes “A portable display shouldn’t look portable.” This phrase is more than just a campaign slogan or marketing tag line, it goes straight to the heart of how Godfrey designs every single display it sends out the door. From the moment you click over to Godfrey’s amazing design gallery to that first conversation with your personal project manager, Godfrey begins to narrow down the list of options to the point where the end result is a custom built trade show exhibit that is sure to meet your every expectation. Plus you are constantly kept up to date with what is going on with your display through email, video, and pictures. By putting together all the pieces of the puzzle such as our amazing Truss, Pod Forum, and TechForm systems the end result is a custom built display that looks like it is one complete structure.
If you are a trade show vendor and are looking for a first class custom built display that looks like it was built there on the spot, look no further than Godfrey! Contact us today at 1-800-789-9394!

As a vendor it’s your job to attract the customer’s attention any way you can. It’s not uncommon to see everything from scantily clad models to circus clowns making their way through an event in support of a company. And let’s face it most trade shows do have that circus atmosphere what with all the loud music, flashing lights, and costumed characters running around. While this type of guerilla marketing does attract attention, it tends to take the customer’s eye away from what the main focus should be and that’s what the vendor’s message is. The result of being the life of the party is that once the show is over, very few in attendance will remember less about who put on the event and more about the guys juggling the flaming chainsaws. Not that prop games such football toss or Plinko don’t have their place at a trade show. After all, the most important thing is getting that foot in the door. With that said though vendors need to remember that through all the glitz and glitter if the customer doesn’t walk away with the sponsor’s name on their tongue, all that shock and awe missed its target.
Believe it or not there are other qualities that customers appreciate in the company’s they do business with rather than providing them with a good time. Among those traits honesty is considered one of the highest. For some adverting and honesty may be on completely separate ends of the spectrum, but if you’re a consumer looking to spend a large sum of money in a time when our nation’s economy is leaving everyone counting pennies; being honest is a breath of fresh air. An example of this can be seen this week in a recent full page ad featuring the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves who continuously seem to be disappointing fans with one losing season after another. In the letter the team president tells fans “We now have more shooting, athleticism and depth at every position, which will make us a better team this season. So will we challenge for the NBA championship this year? Not likely. Ouch. This honesty thing is a bit painful. But the reality is, we still need that one dominant player…..We are confident, however, that this team will be exciting to watch. For the first time in years Wolves fans are going to feel like they’re missing out if they aren’t in the arena. So in addition to player development we’re working hard on fan development, starting with variable pricing and Flex Pack ticket packages that let you pick the games and seats that you want. The bottom line for fans is: We’re making it easier than ever for you to be part of our turnaround.”
Instead of fireworks and magicians, consider an approach similar to the Timberwolves: Custom built fabric walls, soft lighting behind a backdrop of hand selected images, a hanging banner overhead, a conference table to the side, a few chairs for visitors, and a video monitor providing constant information on how your product will change the lives of all who try it. All of this covered in eye catching colors and featuring your company’s name and logo emblazoned in multiple places. No tricks. Nothing to disguise who you are. Just an honest approach at presenting yourself to the customer.

We all know that trade show vendors will go to extraordinary lengths to attract attention to their booths. Far beyond custom displays and game props many vendors feel that the best way to attract attention is by putting a pretty face in front of their booths. While an attractive person will definitely get you attention, it may not be the kind you want. In fact scantily clad models bring about three very distinct problems that are hard to get around if you are vendor looking to utilize this type of marketing:
•1. They draw the wrong crowd. The main problem with using a model as the main way to sell your product is that it gets everyone’s attention. Every company has a target market in mind for their product. A segment of the population that they feel is the perfect fit for their product. By placing a model in front of your display, instead of zeroing in on that target market you may find yourself wasting huge amounts of time on people who are just there to see a pretty face and don’t have any interest in what you have to offer.
•2. They ruin your clean image. First impressions mean everything and they are often virtually impossible to reverse because you almost never get a second shot at talking to the customer. If a visitor walks by your booth and sees a model that could be considered inappropriately dressed, that customer could immediately classify you as a company that is less than family friendly. When designing a display for a trade show you want to be as professional as possible at all times. You want custom fabrics, clean lines, and quality video presentations. By putting a less than wholesome face in front of the exhibit you are alienating a large portion of the population.
•3. They distort your message. Once you consider all of the expenses that are involved in getting to, setting up, and promoting yourself at a trade show, the last thing you can afford to do is have people walk away from your booth not knowing what you are all about. Again using a model may get bring the crowd your way, but moments later if asked visitors to your booth might be able to remember what the model looked like, but not what she was there to sell. Models get in the way of what you are there to do and that is burn your company’s name in the minds of hundreds of consumers.
Instead of using a model to promote a product, the best move is to invest in a custom built multicolored trade show display that only Godfrey can provide. With a wide variety of kiosks, hanging headers, and pop-up displays to choose from; Godfrey is the answer to all your trade show woes.
