3 Money Saving Tips For The Trade Show Vendor

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

This week we are all about putting money in your pocket and keeping it out of the hands of the tax man. As they say the tax man cometh and this year he’ll be sticking his hand out on April 18th which is less than a week away. For those trade show vendors looking to keep more cash in their pockets, we’ve got a few ideas that just might turn that next event into one that will have you seeing red. So far we’ve talked about our one of a kind custom designed trade show exhibit rental program and today we thought we’d follow up by showing you a few ways to save on expenses while you hit the road towards that next convention.

3 Money Saving Tips For The Trade Show Vendor

You don’t always have to fly the friendly skies- While jumping on an airplane may seem like the most convenient form way to get to that next trade show, the bite it will take out of any profits you might make is simply just too big. Believe it or not if you are only traveling a distance of 500 miles from your home base, a rental car or even a train may be cheaper alternative. Yes gas prices will cost you a bit, but airlines are known for charging more to get you to those places which are not considered major hubs. This means that you might save a ton by deciding to hop a train or rent a car to go that next event in Hoboken rather than paying extra to the airlines for having to go to a smaller city.

Combining trips may just help you cut costs- One of the great things about so many of the custom trade show displays offered by Godfrey are their extreme portability.  This can make a huge difference when you to take into account that scheduling events that are close together is a great way to save you tons in terms of travel costs. It only makes sense to hit events that are nearby to one another rather than criss-crossing the country covering the same ground needlessly over and over again.

An alternative to expensive hotel rooms- Obviously you want a hotel close to your event to allow for the most convenience, but you might consider looking for any corporate apartments nearby. Sure you may have to give up some of the traditional courtesies that you no doubt would receive from traditional hotels and suites, but the savings is more than worth no having a valet or complimentary breakfast

A Recipe For A Winning Trade Show!

Friday, March 4th, 2011

I’m not a huge fan of reality shows, but I must admit finding myself addicted to such cooking competitions as Top Chief, Chopped, and Iron Chief. There’s something about making the perfect meal that keeps me striving with every dinner to do better than the last. For the most part my love of cooking isn’t about the taste (though it’s no secret that all chiefs love to eat) but instead at least for me it’s all about the flavors. There’s something about the way basic ingredients have a way of coming together to create a unique dish. A dash of salt, a touch of thyme, pinch of dill….added at just the right time without forcing it; as the ingredients begin to come together they form something greater than the sum of their parts.

If you think about it a successful tradeshow is a lot like a one of a kind meal. Just as a cook must begin by pulling together the basics of the recipe such as garlic, flour, chicken; so too does an event planner as they prepare for what types of materials to take, the size and shape of the display they will need, what  type of approach to take that will ensure they get people’s attention. A successful trade show isn’t put together overnight no more than a seven course meal is done within minutes. What designs will get you the most attention? Should you go with the custom designed fabric structure or will a kiosk suit your needs more?

If you are getting ready to hit the trade show circuit, maybe you’ve been asking yourself lately as to what ingredients you will need to get the job done? Thankfully Godfrey is here to help and we’ve got just what you need to cook up a successful tradeshow. With tons of designs to choose from and a design team eager to help, it’s time you took the next step in the process and let us help make your next event a success.

We’ve Got The Displays That Will Get You Noticed!!!

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Here we are finally making it to Friday, all set to make every second of the coming weekend count and yet once again most of the country is faced with literally feet of snow ruining everything in its path. The past two months have been nothing but one winter storm after the other, a trend that doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down despite what that pesky Puxatony Phil says. According to a recent weather report from CNN just this week “Parts of Oklahoma had received up to 12 inches of snow, according to the state Department of Emergency Management. Wind chills were 10 to 30 degrees below zero in some areas, and authorities were urging people to stay off the roads. Some 80 people in Oklahoma had been injured as a result of the storm, the state Department of Health said Wednesday. That total included 63 falls, one carbon monoxide poisoning, 14 injuries in traffic accidents and two “cut/pierce injuries.”

Like it or not more than ever, this year winter is an unmovable force that must be dealt with. A force that demands to be reckoned with. That cannot be overlooked or dismissed with the wave of a hand. If you think about it this is exactly what you want from a trade show display; something that creates buzz around a conference center, makes people stand up and take notice of who you are, that hooks into them and refuses to let go until they check out exactly what you have to offer. A display that WOW’s the crowd and opens their wallets.

We’ve all been to those events where after one walk around the room, you’re left feeling like you’ve seen everything a thousand times before and really wouldn’t have missed anything had you decided to stay home. Godfrey isn’t in the business of creating these types of boring displays. Give us the chance and what you will soon discover is that we have the tools to create for you a custom built trade show exhibit that is guaranteed to stop consumers in their tracks and stand in line to find out what amazing things are being offered.

If you are in the market for a custom built trade show display take a cue from Old Man Winter and let Godfrey design for you a display that will leave the crowd breathless!

Controlling Trade Show Chaos!!

Monday, February 7th, 2011

In a lot of ways putting on a great trade show appearance is like producing a play. It may sound like a stretch but just think of the last trade show you attended and all the different things large and small that needed to be handled before the doors were opened signaling the beginning of the big event. Although the trade show will only last a few days the list of things that need to be done months in advance include:

*Locking in the date you will be attending

*Planning what you will be showing to the public.

*Making travel plans such as what flights to take and what hotels will offer the best rate

*Inventory needs to be stocked

*Potential customers in the area need to called on so they know where they can find you and what you will be offering.

*Employees to need be made aware of what will be expected

All of this and a ton of other decisions must be made before you even get to the conference center. Once there the production really kicks into high gear as all that planning pays off and a thousand more issues raise their ugly head. The event is going to last longer than originally thought, do you have enough product? The event planner stuck you in a spot where no one will be able to find you, is there a possibility to be moved? Where is the best place to put your additional signage such as posters or information displays? During those first hours of every trade show chaos rules and that’s why Godfrey prides itself on making sure that with all that is going on around you the last thing you have to worry about is your custom built display.

Regardless of if we are talking about an outdoor tent, an indoor grand format fabric structure, a custom built workstation, or an simple sampling kiosk, with the help of our designers and personal project managers the last thing you are going to have to worry about is how well your custom built trade show exhibit will stand up to the competition and how difficult it will be to install. So remember the next time you begin planning your schedule, get with Godfrey and enjoy the feeling of having one less thing to worry about.

Don’t Miss A Sale! It’s Time To Make Your Next Trade Show Display Interactive!

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Recently my family and I had the opportunity to visit the McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Al. The three story building which is tucked away among banks, brokerage firms, and other offices downtown, is one of the many hidden gems in the city. For my four year old it was a dream come true. Unlike other museums which encourage silence and strolling from one exhibit to the next, the McWane Center has only one rule and that’s nothing is off limits in terms of what you can touch, pull, push, or throw. The completely interactive museum is everything that you would expect from what is essentially a business trying to get people in the door. Like the McWane Science Center in order to grow and encourage consumers to spend their hard earned money, today’s business must put aside the old ways of simply describing what their product does and instead give them complete access to experience the item firsthand.

It used to be the case not too long ago that in order to convince consumers that a product would change their lives, all a company would need to do is invest in a pedestal, an information booth to hold a few brochures, and a good pitchman. Times have changed though and with them trade shows are no longer filled with well suited guys spreading the charm and instead feature full scale putt putt golf courses, interactive audio video displays, not to mention chances to win big with such guaranteed crowd pleasers such as cash closets or spin to win games. In order to win a potential customer over they need to be able to touch, taste, and test the product so they know that what they are looking at is the latest thing that they can’t live without.  Consumers want a chance to get on Facebook or Twitter to find out what others have to say about your product. They need to Google the latest news and reviews before they dish out the cash.

If you are a small business owner or trade show vendor looking to make a stronger impression while increasing sales, then the time has come to give your customers what they want with a fully customized interactive trade show display from Godfrey featuring the hottest designs on the market today!

How to turn everyday into Black Friday!!

Friday, November 26th, 2010

It’s officially Black Friday and shoppers everywhere across the country are camping out in line for the hottest deals of the season. Neither rain, sleet, nor snow kept people in their beds this morning as they braved the early hours, endless lines, and hordes of people just itching to get their hands on that must have item of the year. According to those in the know, the history of Black Friday goes back over forty years; “The term “Black Friday” was coined in the 1960s to mark the kickoff to the Christmas shopping season. “Black” refers to stores moving from the “red” to the “black,” back when accounting records were kept by hand, and red ink indicated a loss, and black a profit. Ever since the start of the modern Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924, the Friday after Thanksgiving has been known as the unofficial start to a bustling holiday shopping season.”

While Black Friday is definitely worth battling the early hours and out of control crowds for consumers, for vendors fighting to get their attention everyday has the possibility of setting sales records thanks to 2 amazing displays.

TechForm Aluminum Extrusion Exhibit System

How many times have you found yourself walking out of the mall or towards the checkout line and suddenly locked in on a new gadget that will change your life. Some of the most sold items on the market are found near the exits as consumers simply can’t avoid last second spontaneous buys. The TechForm Exhibit System is built for just those types of items. Featuring Velcro receptive fabric panels, halogen arm lights, a four tier center shelving module, and two side wall extensions with built in racks made to hang products such as shirts, jackets, etc….the TechForm System is a sure bet for those looking to attract some major attention and capitalize on last minute spontaneous shoppers.

ShowTopper Panel System

For vendors wanting more of a showroom style design with tons of shelving space and room for additional options such as an information booth or audio/video display, the ShowTopper is the show stopper. Along with full color custom graphics featuring your company’s name and logo emblazoned all around, the 20′ version includes three 6 figure panel displays with top riser panels, five backlit headers, eight straight shelves, and eight wedge shelves!! Talk about room for inventory, this is the perfect design for vendors looking to put as much variety in front of the consumer as possible.

A Literature Display That Is A Work Of Modular Art

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

To the casual observer it may be hard to tell one trade show display from another, but those of us in the business of designing custom built exhibits can tell you that we create functional works of art. Each of Godfrey’s designs are carefully scrutinized by a group of highly trained professionals who stake their reputations on producing some of the best displays on the market today. Along the way customers are inundated with pictures, emails, and messages from their personal project manager not only to keep them in the loop, but to get as much feedback as possible so that the end result is exactly what they imagined it would be. An example of this can be seen by how something as simple as a literature display is turned into a contemporary work of modern art.

The ModularArt Literature Art Series is a line of displays that is sure to turn heads with its sleek look and eye catching shape.  The Modular Art System is built from four different options:

  • *A floor stand with Velcro or perforated insert panels
  • *A poster print frame featuring a clear protective cover
  • *Channel bars that can be adjusted to fit a wide variety of   print sizes
  • *Several styles of pockets and brackets made to hold various brochure or magazine sizes

Modular Art Literature displays not only come in S or D shaped modules, but are also available in several uniquely designed styles:

  • Perforated- featuring a peg board system which not allows for baskets to be attached, but also hook or peg type POP sales.
  • ZigArt Graphic Stand- is actually a series of shelves stacked on top of one another perfect for magazines
  • Literature Tower- a larger display with several pockets on each side. Available in fixed position or rotating
  • FlexZee Stand- For those that want the look of a custom display, but need something compact, the FlexZee folds down flat for easy transport
  • The Roll-A-Way- the most compact literature display is able to be put up and taken down in no time.

If you are a trade show vendor looking for a display or exhibit and think you have seen it all, well take a peek at some of the fantastic designs from Godfrey and find out just why we consider ourselves the best in the business!

Timberwolves Prove Honesty Is Always The Best Policy

Friday, September 17th, 2010

http://www.nationalsportsbeat.com

As a vendor it’s your job to attract the customer’s attention any way you can. It’s not uncommon to see everything from scantily clad models to circus clowns making their way through an event in support of a company. And let’s face it most trade shows do have that circus atmosphere what with all the loud music, flashing lights, and costumed characters running around. While this type of guerilla marketing does attract attention, it tends to take the customer’s eye away from what the main focus should be and that’s what the vendor’s message is. The result of being the life of the party is that once the show is over, very few in attendance will remember less about who put on the event and more about the guys juggling the flaming chainsaws. Not that prop games such football toss or Plinko don’t have their place at a trade show. After all, the most important thing is getting that foot in the door. With that said though vendors need to remember that through all the glitz and glitter if the customer doesn’t walk away with the sponsor’s name on their tongue, all that shock and awe missed its target.

Believe it or not there are other qualities that customers appreciate in the company’s they do business with rather than providing them with a good time. Among those traits honesty is considered one of the highest. For some adverting and honesty may be on completely separate ends of the spectrum, but if you’re a consumer looking to spend a large sum of money in a time when our nation’s economy is leaving everyone counting pennies; being honest is a breath of fresh air. An example of this can be seen this week in a recent full page ad featuring the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves who continuously seem to be disappointing fans with one losing season after another. In the letter the team president tells fans “We now have more shooting, athleticism and depth at every position, which will make us a better team this season. So will we challenge for the NBA championship this year? Not likely. Ouch. This honesty thing is a bit painful. But the reality is, we still need that one dominant player…..We are confident, however, that this team will be exciting to watch. For the first time in years Wolves fans are going to feel like they’re missing out if they aren’t in the arena. So in addition to player development we’re working hard on fan development, starting with variable pricing and Flex Pack ticket packages that let you pick the games and seats that you want. The bottom line for fans is: We’re making it easier than ever for you to be part of our turnaround.”

Instead of fireworks and magicians, consider an approach similar to the Timberwolves: Custom built fabric walls, soft lighting behind a backdrop of hand selected images, a hanging banner overhead, a conference table to the side, a few chairs for visitors, and a video monitor providing constant information on how your product will change the lives of all who try it. All of this covered in eye catching colors and featuring your company’s name and logo emblazoned in multiple places. No tricks. Nothing to disguise who you are. Just an honest approach at presenting yourself to the customer.
