We’ve Got The Color To Fit Any Mood!

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

If you haven’t been looking out your window lately, I don’t blame you. All those beautiful yellows, browns, reds, and golds that signaled the change from one season to another are just about gone. Fall has fallen and what is left is nothing but gray skies and white snow. It’s enough to make the most cheerful among us feeling a little blue. Luckily there is a way to turn those frowns upside down and all it takes is a little change in atmosphere. According to David Johnson author of Color Psychology, colors play a significant role in how we feel about something. Below are some facts you might find surprising about several of the basic colors:

 Black- Signifies color, strength power

White- Gives off a sense of purity and innocence.

Red- Creates feelings of fun, intensity, heat, desire. Red is fast and gets people noticed

Purple- Feelings of wealth, luxury, and romance are all associated with this color

Brown- Nature is most often associated with this color which signifies earth, home, warmth.

For trade show vendors and retailers alike color psychology could be the key to higher sales. What colors do you see when picturing a trade show? The convention centers are always tan. Tan paint, tan carpet, tan furniture…all geared toward making you feel warm and at home during your stay. As a vendor though what you want is something that screams “Look at me! You are missing the time of your life by passing me by!” The same holds true for retailers who must find a way to lure consumers out of their warm cars, through the dark and dreary streets, and into their store. By adding brightly colored banners to your store front or trade show exhibit, you are helping to create as sense of joy, happiness, and an urgency to cash in on the latest deal before it’s too late.

When it comes to which color to fit the mood you want your customers in, thanks to Godfrey the sky is the limit. With over fifty different colors to choose from we are not only masters of the custom built trade show exhibit; we keep in you in the loop by sending updates and pictures every step of the way. If all you want to see at your next trade show event is the color green, get with Godfrey where we are always in the mood to help make you a success!

Great Additions For Every Trade Show Exhibit

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

The great thing about Godfrey’s extensive variety of trade show displays and exhibits, is that no matter what you are in the market for we’ve got it covered. Whether it is a display that is quick and easy to assemble, an environmentally friendly exhibit, or something private such as a portable conference room, one look around our website and you’ll instantly see there’s no limit to the possibilities of what your next trade show exhibit could look like. But what if you already have a display that for the most part you are satisfied with? What if you purchased an exhibit before you heard about Godfrey and you haven’t gotten your money’s worth out of it yet? The color is still good, there’s no sign of any major wear or tare…basically it’s still a good display yet there are clearly a few extras missing that might help with the overall design. Thankfully Godfrey has the answers guaranteed to solve all the problems with your current display.

Counter Space and Storage Problems- Many are surprised at just what an extra pedestal or two will add to the overall layout of the exhibit. Not only do pedestals provide more counter space, but at a trade show where space is in high demand they can also be used to store extra inventory such as brochures or packaging. Plus they are perfect for helping to direct the flow of traffic into and around the exhibit.

Customized Headers and Banners- While we can’t do much about the lack of customization on an existing display, Godfrey does offer several styles of banners, signs, and hanging headers that can easily feature your company’s name and logo.

Additional Shelving- Information displays not only provide extra room to display brochures and other informational materials, they can also incorporate video and audio accessories which are sure to give your sales a boost.

Custom Flooring- A trade show exhibit should tie everything together. From the color of the walls to the use of graphics to what the company is trying to promote, all of these things should be reflected in the design of the exhibit. Flooring is just as important. Whether it be a red carpet, connecting, or even diamond plated tiles; a good looking floor cover is often the final piece of the puzzle in building a great looking exhibit.

International CES: The Greenest Trade Show On The Planet!

Friday, October 15th, 2010

The kick off of the world’s largest electronics show the International CES may just be around the corner, but 2009′s event is still getting rave reviews. Recently Trade Show Executive Magazine featured the 2009 event as its winner for North America’s Greenest Show. Organizers of the 2011 event kicking off on January 6th promise even greater strides in the realm of reducing and recycling waste. According to trade show organizers International CES 2009 was able to accomplish several amazing green goals including:

  • -Recycled 51 percent (121.27 tons) of the total solid waste generated by show attendees.
  • -Implemented recycling bins, recycled carpeting and other enviro-friendly materials onsite.
  • -Offset more than 20,000 tons of carbon emissions.
  • -Worked with the LVCC to replace more than 15,000 gallons of non-sustainable products, eliminating harsh chemicals used to clean and maintain more than 100 restrooms and the convention space daily.
  • -Switched to recycled paper products including toilet paper, facial tissue and paper towels in the LVCC.
  • -Diverted all light bulbs used by the show from landfills, as well as batteries and other electronics products.
  • -Put hazardous waste disposal programs in effect for waste oil, paints and solvents, and instituted a gas recovery program.
  • -Proudly offered two-thirds of all attendee food containers and utensils made of biodegradable hemp, corn byproduct or other organic materials.
  • -Used recycled carpet in the aisles in the LVCC.
  • -Printed all attendee flyers and CES literature on recycled paper using soy ink.
  • -Highlighted eco-friendly gadgets through its Sustainable Technology TechZone.

For 2011′s event going green is going to get even better with the inclusion of the Sustainable Planet Spotlight featuring exhibits on green building, alternate energy sources, green business, and sustainable packaging.

If you are a tradeshow vendor who is looking to attend CES 2011 or is simply looking to go green with your very own green trade show exhibit, Godfrey has the perfect display to fit your needs with the introduction of the PodForum earth-friendly fabric structure.  Featuring light weight aluminum tubing, the PodForum not only saves you money on transportation cost by being so compact it also uses minimum amounts of fabrics therefore saving you cash.  Plus like all Godfrey designs it can be fully customized to meet your every need!

The Secret Behind A Top Selling Trade Show Display

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Not to toot our own horn, but Godfrey has been in the custom display business for a long time and we know what we are good at. Sure we can supply you with a literature display that looks like a modern work of art. Yes nobody can beat our pop-up displays and kiosk designs. I dare you to find a rental program better than the one we offer featuring a level of quality better than anyone else. Yet there is one thing that Godfrey does better than all else and that’s our ability to create a custom exhibit just as technical as anything else on the market that is completely portable and looks like it  all came in one piece.

A couple of pedestals, a few posters, some counter space, and two or three fabric walls may not seem like much on their own, but put together and what you get is a first class exhibit that is very easy to transport from one location to the next. As we our saying goes “A portable display shouldn’t look portable.” This phrase is more than just a campaign slogan or marketing tag line, it goes straight to the heart of how Godfrey designs every single display it sends out the door. From the moment you click over to  Godfrey’s amazing design gallery to that first conversation with your personal project manager, Godfrey begins to narrow down the list of options to the point where the end result is a custom built trade show exhibit that is sure to meet your every expectation. Plus you are constantly kept up to date with what is going on with your display through email, video, and pictures. By putting together all the pieces of the puzzle such as our amazing Truss, Pod Forum, and TechForm systems the end result is a custom built display that looks like it is one complete structure.

If you are a trade show vendor and are looking for a first class custom built display that looks like it was built there on the spot, look no further than Godfrey! Contact us today at 1-800-789-9394!

How About A Tradeshow Tailgate Party?

Monday, August 16th, 2010

The first official day of college football is less than a month away and where I’m from that means tailgate season is upon us. In the south college football doesn’t just last 5-6 months of the year, in Alabama it’s a 365 day discussion that never stops. On any given Saturday from September through the first of January malls are deserted, parks are left abandoned and empty, and the only people on the streets are those trying desperately to get home in time to catch the second half. If you’re a retailer or any type of event planner than the only way you can guarantee that people will show is the promise that they won’t have to miss the big game. I’ve been to both weddings and funerals where somewhere tucked in the corner of a room you could find a dozen men and women alike applauding a completed touchdown pass.

If you’re a trade show vendor and you know that your target market is full of die-hard football fanatics, then one sure fire way to get them to show up in droves is to contact them in advance and promise them a tailgate party with all the fix’ins. In order to throw a successful tailgate party the most important thing you need to focus on is atmosphere. With a few clicks of a button you can be on your way to creating a Grand Fabric structure that resembles a football stadium with your company’s logo emblazoned all around. The next thing you need is food. Think hot-wings, burgers, hot-dogs, and tons of potato chips complete with enough soda to drown an elephant. For special VIP customers throw a juicy steak on your portable grill and serve it all under the appropriately named Mushroom Kiosk that will give you plenty of counter space.

Now all you got to do give the people what they came to see and that’s the game itself. The Truss Me system with its monitor mount option and a dependable WiFi connection will give you the ability to blast the game all across the conference room floor. Throw a literature stand in the mix so everyone has a chance to learn about who sponsored the awesome party, a pedestal for all to leave their contact info, and what you have is tailgate party that gets the people out of their recliners and into your custom built trade show exhibit!!

The Trade Show Packet: An Idea That Just Might Change The Way You Do Business

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

With the state of the market these days if you are company that makes their living off of the leads gathered from trade shows, then you need to be sure that you treat each event as a learning experience. Regardless of whether or not you’ve been to only a couple of shows or two hundred, everyone has something to learn and every vendor has something to teach. To this end today we are going to discuss the importance of a trade show packet and some of the things you can do at your next event that might help you down the road.

Simply put a trade show packet is a series of observations that require you to pay attention to not only how you did, but how other vendors faired. Before you can get started though make sure that you’ve got away to keep the notes so that you can review them from time to time; the last thing you want is to be stuck jotting a bunch of random thoughts down on a bunch of scrap paper.

What worked for you?  To say that a trade show can be hectic at times is definitely an understatement. We all know what it’s like when you are slammed and how things can turn around at the drop of a hat. Once you have a moment to catch your breath though, look around your booth and see what all the fuss was about. Did you sell out of anything? Was there a specific style you ran out of first or that people were asking about? Was your display set up to handle traffic accordingly or could you have setup a different way. Did you get any compliments on your exhibit?

What didn’t work for you? Every presentation has its flaws. Even the most customized of displays can miss if the way you present it is wrong. Delivery is just as important as any popup display, portable signage, or custom logo you surround yourself with. If you come across as rude, arrogant, or uncaring all that attention that your exhibit brought will quickly go the other way. In the same respect if you’re not clear and to the point as to what it is you are offering, those that visit your booth may not stick around to find out. A custom display will bring the crowd to you, but it’s your job to keep them there.

What did other vendors do? You shouldn’t have to look too far to see what other vendors at the show are doing. Take a walk and make a few mental notes as to what others are doing. Is anyone using games such as a money booth, Frisbee toss, or Plinko that are attracting a lot of attention? Maybe someone is getting a good response from a photo prop. Whatever the other guys are doing compare that to your own display and see who you think comes out on top. Maybe there are things that other vendors did well that may fit in nicely with your style or maybe you will see some things you are doing also which could be turning customers away.

A trade show packet is kind of like an exit interview you conduct with yourself. Take some time to really think about what happened during your trip, what your impressions were of the event as a whole, and what you might do differently your next time out.

Avoid the Agony Of The Feet. Offer Your Trade Show Visitors A Comfortable Seat

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Anyone with kids will tell you that one of the best parts of the day is those last few hours when you finally get to kick your shoes off and put your aching feet up. As somebody who is a parent and used to work trade shows every weekend, by the time I got to finally sit down I could barely walk. Convention centers are designed with one thing in mind and that’s providing the most space possible in hopes of attracting the most exhibits and therefore the most visitors. Below is a list of some of the largest convention centers in the U.S. Check out the size of some of these mega-centers!

Top 10 Largest U.S Convention Centers

 1. McCormick Place,  Chicago, 2.2 million square feet

2. Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, 2.05 million square feet

3. Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, 1.94 million square feet

4. Georgia World  Congress Center, Atlanta, 1.37 million square feet

5. Kentucky Exposition Center, Louisville, 1.29 million square feet

6. Sands Expo & Center,  Las Vegas,  1.13 million square feet

7. Ernest N. Morial Convention Center,  New Orleans, 1.1 million square feet

8. Dallas Convention Center, Dallas, 1.02 million square feet

9. Pennsylvania Farm Show  Complex & Expo, Harrisburg, 1 million square feet

10. George R. Brown Convention Center,  Houston, 930,000 square feet

I don’t about you but 2.2 million square feet is enough to make me cry just thinking about it. Imagine setting up shop at one of these giant complexes and trying to not only get yourself noticed, but get people to stop and spend time listening to what you have to offer. Speaking of things to offer one way to get visitors to put the race to see everything on hold is to offer them an oasis in the middle of the trade show desert. By offering those that pass by a place to sit not only are you giving them a break from all the chaos, but in turn you are showing how much you care. Regardless of whether they are interested in what you are showing or not, you might be surprised by the number of people that will give you a second look when they hear you say that there’s no gimmick. If they’re interested in your company that’s great, if not that’s fine too. The point is that you just want to help out by giving them someplace to get off their feet for a moment. Oh and as it just so happens wouldn’t you know that Godfrey has several varieties of seats from the classic directors chair to the modern scoop stool. As always whatever your trade show needs, all you gotta do is look to Godfrey where we have the solution to all your trade show needs.

Big Does Not Always Mean Better

Monday, July 19th, 2010

I spent all of last week talking about what could be accomplished with the use of Godfrey’s Grand Format Fabric Structures. This week I want to go in the opposite direction and talk about how less can sometimes mean more. A few years back I became interested in log cabins and dove headfirst into all the unique designs that today’s log cabin designers were making available to the general public. That’s when I first heard about Jim Shafer and his tiny home. I had forgot about Jim until this weekend when I came across a recent interview posted on Yahoo. What makes Mr. Shafer so special is that back in 1997 he decided to downgrade his living space. By downgrade I mean Mr. Shafer got rid of the majority of his possessions and moved into an 89 square foot cabin. All these years later Jim Shafer now runs Tumble Weed Tiny Houses a firm that specializes in designing tiny homes for those that live by the motto “Less Is More”. Jim’s success is a perfect example of how something small can lead to huge success; another example of this our line of Podium Shipping Cases.

Any salesman will tell you that the more people you see, the better your chances are of making a sell. If what you are selling requires some type of demonstration, than there is a definite need to be able to assemble and tear down a display quickly so that you can get to your next appointment in good time. Regardless of if you are traveling from company to company within the same city or plane hopping across the country, a good portable display needs to be tough, easy to use, and functional. What makes these Podium Shipping Cases so unique is that what you are getting is a sturdy shipping case that is able to take a licking and when stood on end becomes a professional looking  podium perfect for those who make their livings by giving presentations. Though the shipping case initially looks like other cases on today’s market, what makes this case so special is that inside it carriers a fabric wrap that quickly snaps snugly around the outside giving you just that extra touch of class.

One of the key philosophies preached by Jim Shafer is that all the clutter, all the extras, all the flash and grandeur of today’s homes at least for some is exactly that….needless stuff that takes up space.  If you are somebody that needs to be as mobile as possible at all times, that hates the thought of packing things up and hitting the road with tons of packaging following behind you, and likes the idea of having everything you need for that next big client meeting all wrapped up in one case….a Podium Shipping Case is the more than you’ve ever dreamed of.
